Job Description

**Job Title: Planner** **Job Description** As a Planner, you will play a crucial role in optimizing the maintenance organization, significantly impacting labor utilization, craft utilization, and overall equipment availability. Your primary responsibility is to meticulously plan complex jobs, ensure the availability of necessary parts, and accurately estimate labor hours required. Establish planning meetings with production teams to ensure seamless scheduling and uninterrupted work assignments. **Responsibilities** + Create safe work plans and pre-job safety analyses for all tasks. + Collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor to stage parts for jobs before the start date. + Engage with external vendors to complete tasks when necessary. + Approve work requests and prioritize planning as needed. + Gather technical documentation, such as drawings, schematics, specifications, spare parts lists, equipment histories, OEM manuals, and information from the Knowledgebase system. + Verify parts availability before scheduling jobs and arrange for special tools and auxiliary equipment if required. + Plan work by accurately assigning estimated hours and materials. + Maintain an organized and prioritized work order backlog to identify high-priority jobs. + Ensure required parts are available at the start of the work order. + Manage all work orders in the Ready status for Scheduler readiness. + Enter requisitions for parts not on hand for active work orders. + Expedite parts as needed for equipment downtime emergencies. + Create new preventive maintenance procedures for input in the CMMS system. + Verify PM changes or additions are updated and active in CMMS for planning. + Add items to the equipment Bill of Materials as discovered. + Conduct weekly planning meetings with Production to determine work order priorities, communicate status, and adjust planned maintenance activities if necessary. + Evaluate non-emergency work requests, develop scope of work, and inspect job locations to determine requirements. + Estimate labor hours, skillsets, parts, materials, equipment, and special tools needed for proactive jobs. **Essential Skills** + Background in maintenance with understanding of maintenance systems like Oracle eAM, SAP, and Infor. + Hands-on maintenance experience combined with maintenance planning and scheduling. + Proficiency in CMMS systems, Oracle eAM, SAP, and software such as Excel, Word, MS Office, and Outlook. + Excellent technical writing skills. + Ability to improve work order planning and scheduling effectiveness through maintenance metrics. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with preventive maintenance, ERP, SAP, maintenance planning software, work orders, construction, production planning, and maintenance documentation. + Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. **Why Work Here** Join a unionized environment with ample growth opportunities and a culture that promotes from within, fostering personal and professional development. **Work Environment** This role is based at a metal recycling plant that processes and sells various materials, including steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. The facility is expansive, with most operations in an open yard and some enclosed production equipment, located at the Port of Oakland. The position involves exposure to all weather conditions and physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt, typical in a scrap yard environment. Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields are required to mitigate risks. The workload may be unpredictable with substantial pressure during peak times. Adaptability to critical deadlines and irregularities in work schedules is essential. You will collaborate with a team of 6-7 mechanics and report to a supervisor. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
