Job Description

Adelphi is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to provide in-person counseling services to residents with mental health and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities at a residential facility in Harlingen, Texas. The ideal candidate will provide the full spectrum of emotional and mental health counseling services as directed by an Interdisciplinary Team. This is an on-site position. Remote or telehealth work is not permitted.

• Rate: $38/hr

Requirements:

• Current and valid license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.
• Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification approved by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Experience working with dually diagnosed individuals (mental health and IDD) in a residential setting (not outpatient).
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Immunization clearance in accordance with facility policies.
• Completion of any other standard pre-employment onboarding requirements as defined by the facility.
• Mandatory in-person training held Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to be scheduled after all clearance requirements are met.

Responsibilities:

• Provide as-needed counseling services to residents with mental health and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
• Conduct initial assessments to determine residents’ counseling needs.
• Evaluate each IDT-referred resident and determine appropriate service delivery based on individual needs.
• Develop individualized mental health treatment plans based on assessment findings and IDT recommendations.
• Deliver the full spectrum of counseling services as directed by the facility’s Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) or a community provider.
• Provide individual, family, and grief counseling.
• Provide anger management counseling as part of the treatment plan.
• Provide counseling to support residents in maintaining sexual appropriateness.
• Deliver care within the scope of licensure and in alignment with facility policies and procedures.
• Perform duties consistent with those assigned to permanent Licensed Professional Counselors at the facility.
• Adhere to the facility’s attendance and leave policy.
• Abide by all facility rules, regulations, and policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
