DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, incumbent will be responsible for managing all aspects of human subject neurofeedback clinical trials in a busy, dynamic, cutting edge laboratory within the Department of Psychiatry. The position requires expertise in EEG signal processing, MATLab, Lab Streaming Layer, signal extraction and administration of EEG neurofeedback. Perform and direct others in the collection of EEG during behavioral assessments, and administration of EEG neurofeedback with high fidelity. Responsible for independent preparation and design of study, protocols, tracking data and data analysis, make significant innovative contributions towards research goals and independently perform experiments making technical determinations and/or observations related to research and pertaining to the design and overall direction of research projects and proposes possible changes or new directions when appropriate; Present data in meetings, coordinate studies with collaborators; Must be able to assist with other project and miscellaneous duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Theoretical knowledge in psychiatry, psychology generally acquired through a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience including lab experience.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting research using EEG data collection OR demonstrated experience undertaking research projects in collaboration with academic supervisors making innovative contributions pertaining to EEG signal processing.

  • Extensive experience in research technical procedures, including brain signal acquisition, artifact identification and rejection.

  • Extensive experience with brain data reduction and statistical modeling.

  • Advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities in designing, creating and organizing research projects, under general direction. Strong experimental background in techniques applicable to clinical trials studies involving EEG neurofeedback.

  • Proven ability to design and engage in difficult and complex research projects making significant innovative contributions pertaining to the design and overall direction of research routine and specialized techniques.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing the conduct of research studies including treatments, testing, data collection, and preliminary analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience modifying or adapting standard procedures to meet the needs of specific research projects, as well as study available literature and analyze/alter protocols to reach optimal experimental conditions.

  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge to train employees in EEG data collection and pre-processing.

  • Solid computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email system, and a variety of web-based programs. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain databases, perform standard computer tasks, learn new programs/applications with minimal direction, and exercise fast and accurate data entry skills. Demonstrated commitment to update/maintain technology skills with relevant computer software.

  • Demonstrated experience to independently execute behavioral and neurophysiological experiments with human subjects

  • Proven ability to express verbally or in writing, information on one’s position, plan of action, evaluation or interpretation in a professional, logical, clear, effective, concise, and courteous manner. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience consulting with academic supervisors on the nature and plan of approach to research problems and contributing original ideas.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

  • Excellent organization skills and demonstrated ability to maintain accurate data records from detailed observation of experimentation, and to transcribe precise, cogent results for possible scientific journal publication.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team framework in conjunction with principles of community with other staff members, students, faculty and scientists. Proven skill and knowledge to collaborate with colleagues. Proven ability to effectively participate and contribute to discussions regarding procedures and goals of the research and lab.

  • Proven knowledge of purchasing, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.

  • Demonstrated experience with general lab maintenance including scheduling and coordinating repairs, or replacement, as well as personally make minor repairs as needed.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MATLAB software and programming.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $66,441 - $106,839 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.82 - $51.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
