Job Description:

As the Director of Housekeeping , you will be responsible for overseeing the entire housekeeping department, ensuring that all public areas, guest rooms, and back-of-house spaces meet the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. You will lead, inspire, and manage the housekeeping team, creating a work environment that emphasizes teamwork, efficiency, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. Your leadership will directly impact guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and the overall success of the property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of housekeepers and staff, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development.
  • Quality Control: Inspect rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas regularly to ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met. Address any discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department, including scheduling, ordering supplies, and managing inventory. Ensure efficient room turnover and minimize downtime between guest stays.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Work closely with the front desk and guest services team to ensure prompt resolution of guest requests or complaints related to cleanliness or housekeeping services.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the housekeeping department’s budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure that the department operates within budgetary guidelines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are followed, and that the department complies with OSHA and other relevant local and national guidelines regarding cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene.
  • Inventory & Supply Management: Oversee the procurement and proper storage of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained and costs are controlled.
  • Sustainability & Efficiency: Implement eco-friendly practices where possible and work to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain cost-effective operations without compromising service quality.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Housekeeping Manager or Director of Housekeeping in a hotel, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations, including inventory management, budgeting, and quality control.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues and resolve guest complaints effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and cleaning standards.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
  • A passion for hospitality and providing exceptional guest experiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred, but not required.
